Job Summary

As a Privacy Counsel, you will support the EU Data Protection Officers (DPOs) and assist the Head of Legal (Technology) in managing global privacy matters in his role as Chief Privacy Officer, acting as his deputy when necessary.

Additionally, you will oversee privacy-related concerns for the Yinson Group and its Business Units across various jurisdictions, including Singapore, Malaysia, India, Ghana, Angola, Nigeria, Brazil, Peru, the UK, and the EU

 

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities: To assist the Head of Legal (Technology) in the following

 

Privacy Governance and Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance a robust privacy framework and policies, ensuring compliance with an evolving landscape of global data protection laws and regulations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, overseeing responses to inquiries and audits related to privacy matters.

Risk Management

  • Conduct thorough privacy risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and implementing proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy considerations into the development lifecycle of products, services, and systems

Data Mapping and Inventory

  • Lead the initiative to comprehensively map and inventory the organization's data assets, providing insights into potential privacy risks.
  • Engage with data owners and stakeholders to ensure a meticulous understanding of data flows and processing activities.

Privacy by Design

  • Promote and enforce a "privacy by design" philosophy, ensuring the integration of privacy principles into the fabric of our products, services, and systems.
  • Provide guidance on and oversee the execution of data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing activities.

Training and Awareness

  • Develop and deliver dynamic privacy training programs, ensuring all employees comprehend their roles and responsibilities concerning data protection.
  • Cultivate a pervasive privacy-aware culture through periodic awareness campaigns, communication channels, and ongoing education initiatives.

Incident Response

  • Establish and maintain an effective incident response plan to swiftly address and mitigate privacy incidents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for privacy-related inquiries, manage data subject requests, and coordinate responses to incidents.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven track record as a Privacy Council or a similar role,
  • In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and others pertinent to the organization's operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of information security principles and practices.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Minimum experience of 3 years in a reputable law firm a practicing lawyer followed by a few years of experience as a Privacy and or Legal Counsel (in total 5-8 years of experience)
  • Certification such as CIPP/E or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of use and management One Trust privacy platform.

 

Education

  • Degree from a reputable university, professionally qualified in a common or civil law jurisdiction.
  • Advanced degrees and certifications will be viewed favorably.
