GP Marine - Able Seaman
Responsibility
The Able Seaman shall carry out various jobs in connection with the operation and maintenance of the vessel. The Able Seaman is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day activities of himself and his/her peers, are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of such activities on the environment is within acceptable limits.
Duties
- Shall participate in working supply boats and other marine activities;
- Assist in scaffolding assembly, dismantling and maintenance;
- Carry activities of cleaning and clearing of the decks, open drainage system, and other workplaces, including confine space and areas that demand work at height;
- Help in activities of cargo handling onboard and with marine-support ships;
- Perform manual cargo handling, in association with the function's activities, following Company procedures;
- Carry regular inspections of lifting's accessories and;
- Execute work orders from the unit maintenance system;
- Perform verification routines preliminary to the crane operation;
- Follow the execution of the work orders applied on the crane, auxiliary systems and lifting accessories and;
- Assist during approach, offloading and departure of Export tanker
- Maintain regular safety and security rounds according to instructions from Lead Marine Op and/or Marine Operator
- Carry out jobs of rust/paint removal by chipping machine or high-pressure machine and touch up painting under instruction of Marine Supervisor/ Lead Marine Operator
- Carry out the duties and tasks as specified in the Emergency Response Plan
Additionally, the following considerations stand out:
- When in presence of the unit's Crane Operator, the assistant must do related activities under his supervision;
Furthermore, the Able Seaman shall carry out such work as has been required by own superior and carry out duties as per documented Company Procedure, including administrative or operational activities.

- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of awareness.
- Lead by doing; setting an example for others.
- Observe and report any unsafe activities, conditions or situations.
- If you observe anything unsafe use the ‘Stop Work’ Policy.
Qualifications
General education, certificates and experience:
- Meet the standard of competence of rating as able seafarer deck STCW code II/4-5
- School graduation certificate;
- Intermediate English knowledge.
