Responsibility

Medical preparedness, primary health care and supervision of the working environment. Develop a workplace which promote health and well-being, including aspects related to food security and sanitation of environments. The Nurse should perform his/her activities in accordance with the standards established by the "NORMAN 01 - DPC Brazil Navy, and Minister of Labor NR 37 (Platform Health Care).

Duties

  • Attend to medical preparedness on the installation.
  • Participate in the emergency response organization in accordance with the emergency response plan.
  • Be responsible for the daily operation of the health service with regards to reporting, procurement and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Offer primary medical treatment of illness on board, in cooperation with the medically responsible doctor and the doctor on duty.
  • Supervision and follow-up of general hygiene and hygiene in relation to drinking water and food.
  • Health Promotion. Assist in the dissemination of information on work-related health risks as well as on general health.
  • Assist in the identification, registration, explanation, follow-up and prevention of work-related illness.
  • Provide health-related expertise in charting, following up and improving the working environment.
  • Assist and follow-up of chemicals handling. Assist in compiling a health risk assessment related to handling of chemicals.
  • Supervise the demands related to the Catering Company, taking into account sanitary conditions and food security. 
  • Take the initiative and participate actively in following up employees who are off sick. 
  • Be a driving force and an active participant in work involved in drug prevention. 
  • Provide information to accident reporting within own area of responsibility. 
  • Collaborate and participate actively on general HSE issues, with specific focus on safety and work actively to prevent accidents. 
  • Administrative work in connection with crew change.
  • Carry out the duties and tasks as specified in the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Prepare handover and other relevant operational reports / documents in bilingual language (english and portuguese)

Furthermore, the Nurse shall carry out such work as has been required by own superior and carry out duties as per documented Company Procedure, including administrative or operational activities. 

Nurse shall carry out such work as has been required by her / his organizational or medical superiors and duties in accordance with the Contingency and Medical Regulation Manual.  

HSE Responsibility

  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of awareness.
  • Lead by doing; setting an example for others.
  • Observe and report any unsafe activities, conditions or situations.
  • If you observe anything unsafe use the ‘Stop Work’ Policy.

Qualifications

General education, certificates and experience:

  • Nurse Graduation.
  • Preferably specialized education in Occupational Nursing.
  • Preferably with previous experience with emergency and offshore installation.
  • Valid register at COREN 
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced trauma life support (ATLS).
  • Intermediate to Advanced English
