What will you do:

In this role at chargEV, you will be pivotal in transforming the company into the region's most engaging and customer-centric e-mobility charging platform and infrastructure player.


You will support the MD in leading the execution of the strategic plan and driving strategic initiatives

  • Review issues and actions arising from internal committees, regulatory updates, banking association and management for local management input and timely resolution.
  • Perform regular environment scan to ensure any opportunities and risk impact are considered and discussed with MD for further consideration of appropriate action by relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare CEO’s presentation materials and notes – including meeting with Group management committee, Board of Directors, external meetings with investors, regulators and industry association.
  • Prepare the investment memo for future investment rounds, from financial modeling to the narrative, working closely with YGT finance team.
  • Identify key revenue , cost drivers and unit economics of each initiative to improve business performance. Identify leading indicators and adopt forward looking view in supporting the MD to drive business forward.

This role is not confined to just in Malaysia but to assist in our expansion regionally, whereby you are expected to research, understand the target country’s ecosystem and strategise the best entry method, commercial arrangements and the potential partners that we can enter with either through M&A, JV or partnerships, along with the go-to-market strategy.


This role is about more than strategy; it's about creating a right business model with an unparalleled user experience that is seamless and frictionless that sets chargEV apart as a leader in the electric vehicle industry. Being a startup, you need to be dedicated, go above and beyond your scope and do whatever it takes as a team to win.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Lead the corporate strategic planning process, providing thought leadership, analysis, recommendations, and materials. Manage the Strategic Plan throughout the year, monitoring company performance to the Plan as initiatives evolve.
  • Strategic Roadmap: Work with senior leaders to establish a comprehensive strategic roadmap and implement objectives and initiatives to drive business results.
  • Support Strategic Priorities: Support key strategic priorities and projects in partnership with the MD and other stakeholders.
  • Business Case Methodology: Develop a standardized methodology to test new business initiatives, including scorecard/benchmarking of initiatives, project prioritization, and ROI calculation.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate during prospective deals and on contracts for major projects, working closely with internal and external partners.
  • Cross-Functional Engagement: Engage cross-functionally and serve as an analytical resource to the rest of the business.
  • Investor Engagement: Hunt and engage with investors, managing existing and prospective relationships regionally.
  • Business Development: Drive business growth through the development of new partnerships, organic expansion, and acquisitions.

Skills & Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, actuarial, accounting, economics related fields. ACCA and/or CFA (Level 2 or 3) is highly preferred.
  • Preferably 7-10 years prior working experience, spanning across new business, strategy planning, strategy consulting, advisory or investment.
  • A keen analytical eye and experience building integrated models from scratch (in Excel) and an expert storyteller (in Powerpoint). The candidate is expected to showcase examples during the hiring process.
  • Excellent analytic skills and ability to systematically identify appropriate research methodologies for addressing key issues.
  • Interest in both local and global macroeconomic development and current affairs.
  • Strong in idea generation, problem-solving skills, organization skills and work effectively & efficiently despite under pressure.
  • Exhibits strong commercial acumen and willingness to innovate and create.
  • A people person with the ability to engage and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Having a “Just-do-it” startup mindset, self-starter and practices the Agile methodology.
  • The ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas of opportunity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
  • Power BI or data visualization.
  • Strong command of English, written and spoken.
