Job Summary:
As the Manager, Financial Accounting & Reporting Asia & Consolidation at Yinson Production, you will assume a pivotal role within our Financial Accounting and Reporting (FA&R) team, based in Kuala Lumpur. This position is integral to sustaining the financial health, transparency, and strategic direction of our Offshore Production business unit across Asia. You will spearhead the preparation and consolidation of accurate financial statements, facilitate investment analyses, and contribute to robust financial planning to drive Yinson's corporate objectives in the offshore production sector.
Your expertise will help shape the financial integrity and credibility of Yinson Production's entities, ensuring compliance with international accounting standards and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to uphold the highest standards in financial governance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring closure timelines are met without compromising accuracy or quality.
- Oversee the month-end and quarter-end closing procedures, including the preparation and review of journal vouchers, reconciliations, and enterprise-wide financial analysis and reporting.
- Manage and verify intercompany transactions to guarantee their compliance with the applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Prepare and review quarterly results announcements and related disclosures before external release, partnering with senior management to uphold transparency and corporate governance principles.
- Support financial due diligence and fundraising initiatives by providing detailed accounting evaluations and insightful financial reports.
- Champion the deployment and continuous improvement of operational and financial systems such as Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS), ensuring that team members are adequately trained and proficient in their use.
- Coordinate audit activities and statutory reporting requirements, working closely with internal teams and external auditors to ensure timely, accurate submissions and tax compliance.
- Ensure timely and precise reporting to diverse stakeholders and investors, fostering trust and reinforcing Yinson’s commitment to accountability and openness.
- Review, analyse, and provide recommendations on management papers relating to dividends, tenders, and other significant corporate transactions.
- Offer expert accounting advice and assessments on new projects, contracts, and business transactions, playing a consultative role in financial decision-making.
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with external auditors, regulatory authorities, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate compliance and best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior staff, promoting knowledge transfer, continuous learning, and professional development within the team.
- Proactively manage ad hoc assignments and respond to emerging financial and operational matters with agility and sound judgement.
Requirements and Attributes:
- Education: A minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Financial Reporting, or a related discipline from a recognised institution. Possession of postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications such as ACCA or ICAEW is highly advantageous.
- Experience: Between 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in financial accounting and reporting, ideally within multinational corporations or Big Four accounting firms. Prior exposure to the infrastructure or offshore oil and gas industries will be considered a significant plus.
- Technical Expertise: Profound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including specialized familiarity with IFRS 15 (Revenue Recognition) and IFRS 16 (Leases), especially the percentage of completion method and finance lease accounting.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and reporting capabilities with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful business insights.
- Technology Proficiency: Advanced competence in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, capable of handling complex datasets and crafting compelling, clear presentations for diverse audiences.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of effective communication and teamwork in a cross-cultural, international finance environment.
