As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Insurance Manager to strengthen our Group Insurance function. This role will play a critical part in safeguarding Yinson’s global operations by managing complex insurance portfolios, optimising risk transfer strategies, and ensuring robust insurance governance across our diverse business segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be responsible for mentoring and managing the Group’s insurances across all Business Units, including Corporate, Offshore Production, Renewables, Green Technologies, and Marine. This includes the relevant corporate risk insurances, construction insurances, operational insurances, financing insurances, employee benefits insurance, and general insurances in relation to the relevant Business Units operating worldwide.
  • The candidate will be involved in the overall insurance program. This includes providing guidance and support to the team in negotiating insurance procurement and placement and reviewing insurance terms and limits to ensure that the company obtains adequate, compliant, and cost-effective insurance arrangements, and that they are placed or renewed in a timely manner.
  • The candidate will collaborate with the project's legal counsel to review tender documents, due diligence insurance documents, contracts, and charter parties. He/she will actively participate in relevant meetings to address insurance risks and provide clarifications or solutions based on industry best practices.
  • The candidate will provide strategic insurance input during project development, acquisitions, investments, financing arrangements, and major commercial negotiations to ensure insurance requirements are appropriately addressed from the outset.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the LCI departmental and the relevant Business Unit’s project budgets.
  • The candidate will oversee insurance expenditure management, monitor programme performance, and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies while maintaining appropriate levels of protection.
  • The candidate will provide support in identifying gaps in contractual terms to minimize risk exposures. They will also ensure that contractual obligations related to insurance are fulfilled and that any exceptions are appropriately highlighted.
  • The candidate will proactively identify emerging risks, including climate-related risks, geopolitical exposures, cyber risks, supply chain vulnerabilities, and operational risks, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • The candidate is responsible for identifying new areas for improvement within the function.
  • The candidate will establish and nurture a high-achieving team while emphasizing ongoing development.
  • The candidate will maintain and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with key underwriters, Protection & Indemnity club, brokers, captive managers and etc.
  • The candidate will provide day-to-day support to stakeholders, clients, internal departments, subsidiaries, and associated companies regarding insurance matters or queries.
  • The candidate will provide support to the Head of Insurance and team members in relation to all insurance-related matters.
  • The candidate will be prepared to undertake any ad-hoc duties that may be required.

Requirements

  • A Law degree or professional certification in insurance or an equivalent qualification.
  • A recognised professional qualification such as Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Insurance Professional (CIP), or equivalent will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in insurance and risk management.
  • Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player. Adaptability, proactiveness, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential qualities for this role.
  • Experience in managing complex corporate insurance programmes within multinational organisations, preferably with exposure to energy, offshore, marine, infrastructure, or other high-risk industries.
  • Candidates with experience in Captive insurance is preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in areas such as Offshore Energy, Construction All Risks (CAR), Operational Risks, Marine Hull, Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Liability Insurance, Political Risk, Business Interruption, and Corporate Risk Insurance will be highly regarded.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking ability, negotiation skills, and the confidence to engage with senior executives and external insurance stakeholders globally.
