Automation and OT Network Engineer

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support offshore units daily by providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and guidance for Automation, Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Networks, Telecommunications, CCTV, PA/GA, Metocean, and related systems. Drive standardization across the fleet through knowledge sharing, technical governance, and the implementation of lessons learned, acting as the technical focal point for these disciplines.
  •  Provide technical support and develop solutions for operations, maintenance, inspection, preservation, construction, and commissioning teams, with an emphasis on automation and OT network infrastructure, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and OT/IT integration.
  • Perform technical analysis and troubleshooting of automation, OT network and telecommunications, CCTV, PA/GA and related equipment, identifying performance issues and supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations when required.
  • Provide technical support and act as the focal point for OTS (Operation Training System) infrastructure in Yinson Office. Provide technical support and act as the focal point for OT Cybersecurity across FPSO operations, ensuring secure, resilient, and compliant OT environments through cybersecurity governance, risk management, asset and network security, incident response, digitalization support, and alignment with corporate and industry standards.
  • Evaluate and support Management of Change (MOC) processes related assigned systems, ensuring technical compliance and risk assessment.
  • Visit onboard facilities to inspect, collect data, develop engineering solutions, rectify deficiencies and implement improvements, ensuring compliance with Management of Change procedures when necessary.

Duties:

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and communications in Portuguese and English.
  • Participate in technical evaluations of equipment, systems, technologies, and materials within the assigned scope.
  • Attend technical meetings with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance on standards, procedures, best practices, and engineering solutions.
  • Carry out field surveys, site assessments, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as required.
  •  Develop and support projects related to lifecycle management, obsolescence replacement, upgrades, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate, develop, and optimize maintenance strategies and plans for associated systems and equipment.
  • Evaluate and optimize maintenance, reliability, and performance of systems and equipment, including participation in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
  • Review and evaluate technical proposals, specifications, drawings, vendor documents, and develop as-built documentation, when required. 
  • Provide technical support for Automation/Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Networks, Telecommunications, CCTV, PA/GA, Meteorological and Oceanographic (Metocean), and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with company standards and operational requirements.
  •  Provide technical support and act as the focal point for the Operation Training System (OTS) infrastructure and related technologies in the Yinson office.
  • Manage and continuously improve OT cybersecurity corporate programs by overseeing asset inventories, access control, network security, change management, vulnerability remediation, incident detection and response, compliance and audit activities, OT-IT integration, digitalization projects, functional safety alignment, and cybersecurity awareness across FPSO operations.
  • Be available for occasional offshore assignments and business travel as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university is mandatory, preferably in Control & Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Telecommunications or related disciplines.
  • CREA RJ accredited register is mandatory.
  •  Postgraduate qualification or specialization in Industrial Automation, Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Cybersecurity, Telecommunications, Industrial Networking, Industrial Information Technology (IT), or related fields will be considered an advantage.
  •  Experience in Technical Support, Maintenance, Operations, or Projects. Oil & Gas industry experience is strongly preferred; experience in Petrochemical, Chemical, Marine, Energy, or other related industrial sectors is also valued.
  • Experience with Industrial Automation and Networks, Operational Technology (OT), Telecommunications Systems, and Industrial Cybersecurity, including OT/IT integration and industrial communication protocols, is desirable.
  • Good communication, commitment to take responsibility, problem solving, organization, teamwork.
  • Advanced English proficiency and fluency in Portuguese, including the ability to prepare technical reports and participate in meetings with international stakeholdersAdvanced MS Office.

Specific Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA, F&G), industrial networks, and communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, OPC, Profibus, Profinet, Hart). 
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark and Hi-Vision software), switch and firewall configuration, and industrial network infrastructure.
  •  Experience with OT/IT network segregation, data collection systems, and industrial connectivity solutions.
  • Knowledge of servers, virtual machines, virtualization platforms, and industrial OT/IT environments is desirable.
  • Experience with Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) such as Siemens PCS7, Kongsberg K-Chief, or ABB 800xA, as well as knowledge of automation system backup, recovery, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies, will be considered a plus.
  •  Experience with engineering documentation, including interconnection diagrams, logic diagrams, and network architecture/topology drawings.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems, including UHF/VHF radio, radar, CCTV, PA/GA, and Metocean systems, is considered a plus.
  • Experience with structured cabling and fiber optic systems, testing tools, ethernet (cat5, cat6) and serial communication (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485).
