Data Engineer

This role is responsible for developing methods that transform raw data from different sources into useful, consistent, and machine-readable formats. The candidate will develop and test architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for modeling and analytics, as well as align the data processing systems with business goals; coordinate the efforts required to ensure the infrastructure, technology, and engineering requirements necessary for data analytics, data visualization, and data modeling are established for all phases of the asset lifecycle.
Duties
- Identify opportunities for data acquisition and ensuring captured data is of quality and reliability.
- Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modelin, Interpret trends and patterns.
- Build data systems and pipelines for data analytics, data visualization, and data modeling.
- Coordinate the activities of ensuring data access for dynamic and steady-state simulations.
- Encourage continuous development by offering recommendations in the areas of process improvement and new technologies.
- Provide advice, support, and assistance in the implementation of the Performance Data Management program(s)
- Monitor identified and emerging risks and advise on their prevention, mitigation, and management.
HSE Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of awareness;
- Lead by doing; setting an example for others;
- Observe and report any unsafe activities, conditions, or situations;
- If you observe anything unsafe use the 'Stop Work' Policy.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field;
- Minimum 3+ years experience in data engineering, database administration, Azure database, or a similar role;
- Technical expertise with data modeling, data mining, and segmentation techniques;
- Ability to decipher and organize large amounts of data;
- An analytical mindset with excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
- Proficient in the data processing system and pipeline development involving cloud data solutions or databases such as SQL;
- Proficiency in at least one of the programming languages, such as Java or Python;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure analytics and data governance services, AWS and other similar big data services is advantageous;
- A data engineering certificate (e.g. IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus;
- Experience with using Power BI is an asset.
