Job Summary


This role requires good organizational/coordination skills and management of the engineering team. Direct contact with the client, contractors and vendors will be necessary. The role of the Engineering Manager is to:
  1. Prepare, manage and maintain the engineering plan including budget, contracting strategy and schedule.
  2. Technical Authority for the FPSO.
  3. Manage, plan and administer all project engineering resources (staff and contractors).
  4. Ensure FPSO performs as per specification, including nameplate capacities and availability.
  5. Provide project technical specifications.
  6. Plan, define, award and manage various Engineering Contractor’s technical deliverables for both basic engineering and detailed design, initially to IFC and subsequently to As-Built status, as well as their timely issuance to support construction and integration activities.
  7. Plan, define and award and manage Marine Package Vendor’s technical deliverables and equipment delivery.
  8. Support planning and definition of refurbishment & life extension scope of work. This activity may involve site inspection of the candidate vessel and existing documentation gathering and cataloguing.
  9. Ensure management of internal/external interfaces, design change control and queries.
  10. Ensure compliance with Client basis of design and corporate specifications.
  11. Prepare, interface with client and maintain a deviation request list with regards to all Client specifications.
  12. Ensure that project-specific discipline-related technical specifications and drawings are prepared with regards to all Client, Company and Classification Society requirements.
  13. Ensure that all contractors and vendors meet the contractual, Classification Society and technical requirements related to mechanical engineering discipline.
  14. Ensure development and consolidation of multi-discipline engineering registers/lists.
  15. Plan timely document reviews of contractor and vendor documentation.
  16. Ensure Model Reviews are performed and actions are closed.
  17. Ensure compliance with Safety Study recommendations and best practices, and closeout of actions.
  18. Provide technical support to project manager for schedule/planning, variation orders and change management.
  19. Provide technical support and assist trouble-shooting during construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning, through to start-up, and including during operating regime.
  20. Travel as required, including but not limited to shipyards in SE Asia region, China, Middle East region, other Yinson Offices (Oslo, Malaysia), candidate vessels (onshore/offshore), operational production units (offshore) and onshore support bases.

Key Duties & Responsibilities


  • Perform as Technical Authority for the FPSO Engineering scope of work.
  • Ensure that costs to Yinson are minimized and that project schedule is maintained.
  • Technical Oversight of the Engineering Contractors and Equipment Vendors. Follow-up and monitor Contractor schedule and progress and ensure any deviation is mitigated by corrective action coordinated with YP team.
  • Interact with Client as required.
  • Identify and ensure execution of the whole FPSO engineering scope of work in accordance with the legal obligations, contract terms, scope of work, technical requirements and company policy.
  • Interact with and support the engineering contractors as required (including Marine Engineering, Hull Engineering, Structural Engineering, Topsides Module Engineering, Integration Engineering, LQ Engineering, Shipyard Engineering, etc) and equipment/package vendors.
  • Achieving resolution of multi-discipline equipment problems by coordinating with the discipline engineers and project management team.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging methodology improvements; and absorbing new practices from clients and partners.
  • Engineering problem solving and troubleshooting, even when not directly in own discipline (taking a holistic approach to the project).
  • Coordinate discipline issues between client, contractors, vendors and other relevant parties.
  • Provide input to weekly/monthly progress reporting and other relevant status information as needed.
  • Participate in audits and review processes as necessary
  • Interact with non-technical disciplines as required (document control, cost control, planning).
  • Other tasks as requested by the Project Manager.
  • QHSSE Duties – every employee shall:

    • Report quality related problems and HSSE hazards or deficits within their area to the QHSSE department;

    • Degree qualified in a technical subject

    • Experienced in oil & gas Engineering (10-years)
    • Previous leadership role at engineering contractor
