Hull Inspector

Yinson GreenTech is looking for a Hull Inspector to join our marine division (“marinEV”) to develop exciting products for electric vessels and charging infrastructure. The Hull Inspector will be responsible for quality surveillance activities during construction to ensure the QA/QC objectives for the project are met. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in quality control who wants to make an impact to decarbonise the maritime industry.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality plans for marinEV vessels being constructed at the shipyard.
- Monitor / report construction status against metrics such as performance, schedule and quality.
- Experience working in marine industry (preferably aluminium vessels) for structure and piping trades. Familiar with welding procedure/standards, NDT (UT, RT, MPI, etc) procedure/standards, dimension control, site quality checks.
- Clear understanding of how aluminium ships are constructed, including hull designs, decks, bulkheads, frames, and other structural elements.
- Identify welding and or construction issues during inspection and work with the project team and shipyard to propose solutions.
- Review shipyard documentation related to welding procedures, welding specifications, welder qualification and quality plan.
- Attend site inspection as per construction progress and Inspection Test Plan related to hull, structure, piping and machinery.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to drive progress and resolve issues through periodic internal and external meetings, workshop sessions, site visits etc.
- Work closely with project stakeholders such as engineering contractors, OEMs, shipyard, Class, operators and local authorities to drive progress and resolve issues.
- Familiar with various Class Society requirement.
- Proactively manage the interfaces of the project to ensure relevant inputs are received timely for incorporation into the design. This involves good coordination with the team internally as well as Client, Class and vendors externally.
- Assist troubleshooting during construction, mechanical completion and commissioning phase of the project.
- Manage engineering contractors, shipyards and equipment vendors to deliver their scope within the project’s schedule and budget constraints.
- Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging technology, improvements and absorbing new practices from the market.
- Other tasks as requested.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in a technical subject.
- Good use of Word and Excel.
- Willing to work at site.
- Involvement in design, construction and commissioning.Experience in Welding and NDT procedure and standards.
- Basic knowledge in Naval Architecture.
- Able to write Inspection Reports.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience.
