Reporting directly to the Assistant Senior Manager (Asia), the Tax Manager – Asia is responsible for all tax matters for all Yinson Production entities in the Asia Pacific. This will include all necessary direct and indirect tax reporting, resolution of taxation audits, transfer pricing analysis and documentation and other local and international taxation matters as they arise.
In addition, the Tax Manager will have the opportunity to be involved on a global level in the review of operating structures for all FPSO vessels, support mergers & acquisitions, structuring, tax planning and tax optimization initiatives (including claiming of exemptions, relief and taxation incentives where applicable).
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the Assistant Senior Manager (Asia) to lead and manage the Asia Pacific tax team in relation to (include and not limited to) the following:
• Timely and accurate tax filings concerning entities operating in the Asia Pacific region, e.g. corporate income tax returns, GST/SST returns, transfer pricing documentation and withholding tax returns supported by third party service providers (where applicable).
• Review data concerning entities operating in the Asia Pacific region to Group Tax, for the purposes of Country-by-Country and Pillar 2 reporting.
• Able to work independently.
• Monitor current and impending legislative and regulatory tax law developments that may have an impact on entities operating in the Asia Pacific jurisdictions, and evaluate the potential effects on the company, as well as identifying potential tax risks and/or opportunities.
• Ensure appropriate provisioning for taxation risks at both the local and consolidated level.
• Assist with internal and external tax audit procedures.
• Assist with providing appropriate updates to company tax policies and the global tax strategy.
• Advise on cross-border tax issues, including providing assistance in Advance Pricing Arrangements (APA’s), Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAP’s), advanced rulings and other ruling procedures with Asia Pacific taxation authorities.
• Participate in projects related to acquisition and/or divestments, financing, reorganizations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, the relevant tax authorities, external auditors and tax advisors
Requirements
- Recognised Degree and/or Professional Qualification in Accounting, Tax, Law or equivalent
- At least 8-10 years of relevant work experience with a multinational organization or a Big 4 company, with 2 years or more in a review or managerial role. Experience in the infrastructure and/or offshore oil and gas space is considered an advantage
- Solid understanding of tax accounting, experience with lease accounting is considered a plus
- Being a member of the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP) or a similar professional accounting/taxation body is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate complex matters concisely and effectively across all levels of the organization
- Interest in working with international colleagues and enjoy working with difference individuals and cultures throughout the world, and have a global outlook of dealing with cultural differences diplomatically and positively
